Probably one of the best actors that portrayed the fantasy character Sinbad. Before acting he was a high school speech teacher in the state of Wisconsin. He appeared along many famous actors in his era the likes of Frank Sinatra, Christopher Lee, Ernest Borgnine and others. I believe he retired from films in the 70's so to this day he is remembered as the ultimate Sinbad! thank you for all the memories Mr. Mathews.
Harry Hamlin Film: Clash of the Titans as Perseus
American actor who is probably more notable for his role as Michael Kuzak in the hit TV series L.A Law back in the 80's. He played a very convincing Perseus in Harryhausen's last film Clash of the Titans along side an international all star cast. He still appears here and there in movies and TV series once in a while. But forever he will be remembered as the one who immortalized the be-heading of Medusa!
Burgess Meredith Film: Clash of the Titans as Ammon
One of the truly great and gifted performers of the century. Out of all the actors here Burgess Meredith is my favorite, for so many reasons his career spanned many years and many roles in different areas, such as a very cool Penguin in the original Batman series, some very memorable roles in many Twilight Zone episodes one were he played the devil a very cool one! and of course as Mickey in Rocky. He was the poet and story teller Ammon in Clash of the Titans. What an amazing actor and likewise career. Sadly he passed away on September 10, 1997, thank you for all the memories. Filmography
Todd Armstrong Film: Jason and the Argonauts as Jason
Born in July of 1937, Mr. Armstrong is remembered as the guy who went against the giant Talos and challenged the Gods in one of the most memorable fantasy films of all time, Jason and the Argonauts. Little info is found about him all that I know is that he appeared in these films besides Jason, Dead heat on a Merry-go-round 1966 and King Rat 1965 and others check his filmography below. Sadly he passed away on November 16, 1992.
Film: Clash of the Titans as Zeus
He was born in 1907 and lived till 1989, He was knighted in 1947 and appeared in more than 120 stage roles, nearly 60 films and more than 15 television productions. In his career as an actor he was awarded 15 Academy Awards!! truly amazing, in the year he played the almighty Zeus he was given the Order of Merit. Sir Lawrence Olivier one of the best actors of all time.
Maggie Smith Film: Clash of the Titans as Thetis
She is known as one of Britain's acting treasures! she has done great things both on stage and on the big screen. Her debut on stage was in 1952 and her first film was "Nowhere to go" in 1958. At the time she appeared as Thetis in Clash of the Titans she was married to Beverly Cross who wrote the script for that film. Like Sir Lawrence Olivier she is one of my favorite actors for her talent and amazing career. She truly brought the goddess Thetis to life! Filmography
Torin Thatcher Film: The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad as Sokurah
He was born to British and Indian parents in 1905. He appeared in first film Irish Hearts in 1934 after working on stage for seven years. Like Kerwin Mathews he was also a school teacher prior to acting. He played the memorable character Sokurah the Magician in The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad. One more thing that you might now is that he was also on episode 22 of Star Trek "The Return of the Archons" he played Marplon. 1905-1981. Filmography
Tom Baker Film: The Golden Voyage of Sinbad as Koura
Tom Baker British actor who was best known for the fourth incarnation of Doctor Who, was born in 1934 in Liverpool, England. Baker then served on the Queen Mary for seven months as a sailor in the Merchant Navy before attending Rose Bruford College of Speech and Drama in Kent, England, on scholarship. Baker acted in repertory theaters around Britain until the late 1960s when he joined up with the National Theatre, where he performed with such respected actors as Maggie Smith, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Sir Laurence Olivier. He started in over 38 films and of course so many episodes of Doctor Who. Filmography
Sian Philips Film: Clash of the Titans as Queen Cassiopea
Was performing on BBC radio's Welsh-language service at the age of 11. Phillips made her first British television appearance at 17; one year later, she won a Welsh acting award which paid her way through RADA. She had a role in David Lynch's "Dune" 1984 were she played Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam, She was the queen Cassiopea in Clash of the Titans. From 1959 through 1979 Sian was the wife of actor Peter O'Toole, with whom she appeared in the 1964 film Becket and the 1969 movie musical Goodbye Mr. Chips.
John Philip Law Film: The Golden Voyage of Sinbad as Sinbad
A native of Los Angeles John Philip law played Sinbad in The Golden Voyage of Sinbad and brought a different personality to the character. For most of his early career he did movies in Italy but his break-through role was in The Russians are coming! were he played a Russian sailor, after this he did tons of other international films. As far as I know he still does films but mostly over in Italy. Filmography
Lionel Jeffries Film: First Men in the Moon as Joseph Cavor With his firm jaw-line & bristling mustache, Lionel Jeffries played a nice line in English eccentrics. This belied his RADA training. Following military service in WWII he really played his major roles in the 1960's. Everything from Grandpa Potts in Chitty Chitty Bang Bang (1968) to the Marquis of Queensberry in Trials of Oscar Wilde, The (1960). Filmography
Judi Bowker Film: Clash of the Titans as Princess Andromeda
She has been on stage since her child-hood, she first appeared in 1972 TV-series version of Black Beauty, since then she was in many films both here in the U.S and the U.K. She is most remembered as Andromeda in Clash of the Titans, interesting fact about her is that she is a trained ballerina. Patrick Wayne Film: Sinbad and the eye of the Tiger as Sinbad
Patrick Wayne appeared as the last Sinbad in the Sinbad trilogy films, if you don't know he is the son of John Wayne. His career was much different than his famous dad, I know he appeared in The Young Guns in 1988 which was a western..I don't know of any other western he was part of but he did films From the film The people time forgot in 1977 to Deep Cover 1996 he did many different genre of films over 40 I believe.
Kathryn Grant Film: The Seventh Voyage of Sinbad as Princess Parissa
Kathryn Grant was born in the Deep South in 1933. On stage from age 3, she was a graduate of the University of Texas. She appeared in films next to actors like Tony Curtis, James Stewart just to name a few. In 1957 she married singer Bing Crosby and had three children. Today she hosts an annual show called the Crosby Gold Tournament in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. Filmography
Paul HubschmidFilm: The Beast from 20,000 Fathoms as Tom Nesbitt
Paul Hubschmid was born in Schφnenwerd, Aargau, Switzerland in 1917, he became a very sucessful actor in Britian Actually, Hubschmid had two careers - under two names. As Paul Hubschmid, he was featured in such European films as Der Fall Rainer (1942), Du Bist Musik (1949), Rommel's Treasure (1962) and Funeral in Berlin (1966). Under his Hollywood-imposed moniker of "Paul Christian", Hubschmid played accentless leads in films like No Time for Flowers (1952) Filmography
Herbert Lom Film: The Mysterious Island as Nemo
Actor Herbert Lom appeared on The Mysterious Island actually his real name is Herbert Charles Angelo Kuchacevich Schluderpacheru, pretty long name! Born in Hungry-Austria back in 1917, He had a very interesting career playing roles from Napoleon, the Phantom of the Opera, and of course Captain Nemo. Some of his big name films are El Cid, Spartacus and others. I believe he is still alive, check out his bio below for some interesting facts about his very interesting actor.
Hugh Marlowe Film: Earth Vs The Flying Saucers as Dr. Russell A. Marvin
Marlowe was born Hugh Hipple in Philadelphia, and began his stage career in the 1930s at the Pasadena Playhouse in California. He performed in many radio shows and stage as well as films, remember Birdman of Alcatraz he was Roy Comstock, another very famous Si-Fi film that we was part of was The Day Earth Stood Still in 1951, Mr. Marlowe past away in 1982 of a heart attack.
